BIOGRAPHY
I was born and grew up in Bolton, Lancashire and studied violin before starting singing lessons. I was always obsessed with theatre, and so, combined with a deep love of music, a career as an opera singer was the obvious choice. I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with Dianne Matthews and Barbara Robotham. I then studied for an M.Phil at Lancaster University, while moonlighting in the theatre department, before continuing my operatic studies with Judith Beckmann and William Workman at the Opera Sudio of the Hochschule für Music und Darstellende Kunst in Hamburg. After working in Europe as a concert and opera singer, I returned to the UK.
While still continuing as a performer, I built up a thriving studio, teaching in London, Bristol, Cardiff and Belfast. I taught at Queen's University, Belfast, the Welsh College of Music and Drama, the Birmingham School of Acting and Exeter University as well leading workshops and masterclasses for Counterparts, Otto Voci, Gresham House Studios, Toastmasters and Gloucester Choral Society.
I conducted my first musical in 2000 and have worked continuously since then as conductor of choirs, orchestras and as MD for theatre productions and shows in the UK, India and Africa.
